EIGHTH GRADE FUNDRAISER Our after school sales have not been as successful as we hoped so we are in need of another fundraiser to cover the costs of our students 8th grade dance. We found this coupon book that seems like something we can all use. It contains coupons for lots of local places like Dairy Queen, Wendy’s, Chick-fil-A and much more. It also has four $5 coupons to Winn Dixie that can be redeemed at Publix. These 4 coupons alone pay for the book and everyone has to buy groceries! The PTA will receive $10 for each book sold. We estimate that, if each family buys at least one coupon book we will make more than enough money to give our eighth graders a dance they will remember forever. A win-win situation! . DJ: Pure Energy! Candy, extra slice of pizza, drink, chips, and treats will be available for purchase. there will be a Photo Booth selling pictures for $2 each. CANDY SALES, DIPPIN DOTS AND JUICEBLENDZ The PTA is selling candy to students at 4 PM by the bus pathway on Mondays and Fridays. Candies go from 25 cents to $1 each. Dippin Dots are sold on Tuesdays for $3. JuiceBlendz smoothies are sold on Thursdays. They are $2 for the 8 ounce cup and $4 for the 16 ounce. The proceeds will be used for the eighth grade dance at the end of the year, which is sponsored by the PTA and is free of charge for all eighth graders. LOCAL CAPITAL OUTLAY MILLAGE AND STATE PUBLIC EDUCATION CAPITAL OUTLAY (PECO) FUNDING The State is considering required school districts to share the local capital outlay funds (1.5 mills) with charter schools on a per student basis (senate bill 1852). This would have an additional impact of $25 million next year to the District's capital outlay plan. . PARENT INVOLVEMENT Parents are the biggest influence in their child's life and education. Teachers and your child's classmates/friends are important, but parents are much more important. The difference between a good school and an even better school is the involvement of the parents and school community. Even if a parent doesn't have much time to be involved at the school location, 15 minutes of uninterrupted time spent with your child every day can improve study skills, build self-esteem and go a long way toward a successful school experience.   Research has proven when parents are involved in their child's education, they do better in school..
